As a multidisciplinary artist Sinead Conlon examines the peculiar inter-relationships between art, public/private space, audience and territory, also present is the theme of place. Since graduating from Limerick School of Art and Design she has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland including Tulca ’08, Fix Live Art Biennale ’09 and a solo show re:REM at Ad Hoc Gallery, Belfast. She has received numerous residencies and was selected as artist in residence at Roscommon County Library as part of Art @ Work ’09. Conlon’s recent artworks have addressed particular concerns regarding mobile, temporary architecture, participation and the occupation of land by means of legal loopholes. She has an explicit interest in the politics of public space and the methods citizens employ to interpret and express their relationship to the places in which they live. Through her relational practice, Conlon shows a sincere interest in developing artworks that create unique situations whereby the public become accomplices to the work.
